Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry, sometimes referred to as prosthodontic dentistry, is the process of restoring the mouth to optimal health and appearance. Procedures such as veneers, crowns, dental implants, bridges and dentures (full and partial) all fall under the umbrella of restorative dentistry. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the appearance of your natural teeth, but in some cases, such as where there are missing teeth or severe decay, implants, bridges or dentures may be necessary. Chipped or cracked teeth may often be repaired using dental crowns. In cases where teeth are missing, it is imperative to fill the gap in order to prevent the remaining teeth from shifting. In such cases, crowns or bridgework may be necessary. If most or all of the teeth are missing, complete dentures will be needed to enable the patient to chew and speak properly and also to prevent the jaw from shrinking and the lower facial features from appearing sunken. Your dentist will work with you to determine which treatment is best suited for your unique situation.
